In most mid-century American collectible pottery circles, the word reproduction draws immediate, passionate responses, often negative. A fast read of posts on the larger cookie jar collector forums will reveal a loathing of ceramic reproductions that has no parallel in any other area of art. On the other hand, most of people who express the strongest feelings about reproduction pottery are making use of the word "reproduction" when they definitely mean, "counterfeit". A counterfeit can be a reproduction deliberately mismarked for the sole purpose of confusing the prospective buyer into believing it was made by the original provider.
1 approach to gauge what "quality" indicates in a tangible way is to investigate the producers of Asian collectibles overseas. An example of such may be the Chinese Figurines of Shiwan. Shiwan has been referred to as "the Ceramic Capital in China." Shiwan is an old town within the southern component of Guangdong province. Its reputation for attractive and elegant ceramic figurines has been famous for hundreds of years. Plus, the conventional Shiwan ceramic skills and methods have been passed down through quite a few generations of craftsmen. This is one example of what excellent workmanship means within the Asian homeland. In Shiwan, there is a location called "The Figurines Street." The two craftsmen who develop Oriental figurines are Master Lin Wei Dung and Master Lin Wei Ho. They are two brothers who are quite well known in this particular region of China for their unsurpassed skill. Their statues have been made for lots of years in this region. Nevertheless, they've received practically no competition simply because no other artists are able to match their specific level of detail in producing beautiful figurines. Their figurines are not affordable, due to the fact they are made with such superior skill that they turn out to be works of art in a short period of time!

What PAINT do i use to restore WILLOW TREE figurines?
How it's made:
"Lordi uses sculpting clay to create her figurines, and not the wood of a willow tree. The original figures are shipped to China, where they are cast in a resin mold. The mold captures each intricate detail in the figurines. After the resin is cured, the figurines are individually painted with a lead-free, water-based paint. The Willow Tree Angel figurines are embellished with wire wings, which give the figurines a lovely, primitive appearance. "
If i wanted to restore the white of the gowns, what paint should i use? Also, the figurines tend to look dated, is there a way to make the new paint blend in? suggestions on paint and techniques, please?

I would recommend using a flat acrylic paint, found at any craft store. I also think you will have a hard time trying to match the colors up to blend . So I suggest that you repaint the whole dress with the new color that you buy.
Also take one of the statues with you when you go to buy your paint, this way you will at least find a color that is a close match to the original.
Use a very soft brush to paint them with, therefore eliminating the brush strokes.
Good luck with it.
The lady figurines which have consistently captured this writer's attention are the distinctly "Oriental" selection. The lady figurine called "Kimono Dressed Oriental Lady" is made of fine ceramic material. She stands twelve inches tall, and is pretty appealing with her Japanese colors. A different excellent figurine will be the 1 called "Oriental Lady Statue Figurine." Like her predecessor, she is twelve inches tall and made of fine ceramic. Nonetheless, her style is really a small much less noticeable. One figurine which is incredibly lovely is known as "Beautiful Hand Glazed Geisha Statue." This figurine is eleven inches tall and is produced of fine ceramic. This lady's colors stand out clearly and catch your eye at when. A less noticeable (although still attractive) piece will be the "Asian Antique Style Statue." She has mostly a white ceramic surface with dark hair atop her round head. The figurine known as "Traditional Chinese Lady Hand Crafted Statue" is an exquisite function of art. She is sixteen inches tall and crafted out of fine ceramic. The painting and style of this statue gives you an immediate, distinctive "Chinese" feeling! Collecting can be a incredibly fullfiling hobby and also has some wonderful variety. May it be action figures, stamps, or the Tree Figurine Angel on this page, it will normally be a joy to collect.
So these are a number of the possibilities in the Oriental market for lady figurines and ceramic collectibles. Having said that, there are actually still many a lot more kinds of statues that simply cannot be discussed at length here. The most thrilling aspect of shopping for ceramic collectibles is that you will discover so many to choose from. There is also so considerably to learn about them all. They captivate you the far more you discover out.... and you cannot stop yourself. Take pleasure in your experience with all these fine ceramic collectibles!
